What we collect

When you submit the form on this site we collect your name, email address, telephone number, the filing type you selected, and any message you write. If you become a client, we collect the tax information needed to prepare your return, which may include Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers, income documents, and financial records. Our website also receives standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view.

Why we collect it

Form submissions are used to respond to your enquiry and to schedule a consultation. Tax information is used to prepare, review, and file your returns and to represent you before tax authorities where you have asked us to. Technical information is used to operate the site and to measure the performance of our advertising.

Taxpayer information and IRS Section 7216

Federal law, at Internal Revenue Code Section 7216, restricts how a tax return preparer may use or disclose the information you provide for the preparation of your return. We do not use or disclose your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing and filing your return, or as otherwise permitted by law, without your prior written consent. We will never sell your tax return information.

Document handling

Tax documents are exchanged through SmartVault, a secure third-party client portal. We ask clients not to send tax documents by email because ordinary email is not a secure channel.

Who we share information with

We share information with service providers who help us operate, including our document portal, tax preparation software, email provider, and scheduling system, each of whom is bound to confidentiality. We disclose information to tax authorities only as required to file your returns or as compelled by law. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.

Advertising and analytics

This site may use Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion measurement to understand which advertisements lead to enquiries. These tools use cookies and collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data. They do not receive your tax information. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on Google provides, and you can manage advertising cookies in your browser settings.

Retention

We retain client tax records for a minimum of seven years in line with professional standards and the applicable statute of limitations. Enquiry form submissions from people who do not become clients are retained for up to twenty-four months.

Your choices

You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete information we are not required by law or professional standards to keep. Write to info@cagaccountant.com or call (720) 603-9700. Colorado residents have rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of personal data, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising. We respond to verified requests within forty-five days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under sixteen and we do not knowingly collect their information other than as part of a family tax return prepared at a parent or guardian's instruction.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
